River Conditions

Historic Conditions

River navigation in Monmouth is a little unusual as we are not on an easily continuously navigable stretch of river.  Please take a few minutes to read the NAVIGATION RULES for the Monmouth stretch of the River Wye.

Flooding

The river level is very variable especially in the winter.

The Environment Agency website provides details of current and expected water levels at various points along the River Wye

For those rowers using Monmouth Rowing (members and visitors), please also read the standard risk assessment.  Please note that this is a generic document and as such may not take account of some weather conditions and participants, although we have tried to make it as complete as possible.

Rowing above the Cottages

When the river level is below the wide concrete step DO NOT ROW ABOVE THE COTTAGES.
