Training Camps at Monmouth RC

What can we offer?

Regatta 2014

  • A beautiful 2,500m stretch of the River Wye which has NO motorised river traffic.  There is one bend with 1,500m virtually straight.

  • A large private area for trailer parking boat storage and rigging.

  • Two well maintained 15hp motor launches with console steering.

  • A comfortable club room (heated of course for those colder days!).

  • Hot showers available all day.

  • A gym with 18 well maintained ergos.

  • Plenty of boating space (up to 3 eights at a time).

  • Use of a large kitchen for making your hot food and drink.

  • The town of Monmouth is just a few minutes walk away, with Lidl, Waitrose, Iceland and M&S as the varied food options.

Where & when can we stay?

  • We are unable to offer accommodation.  However, there is a Premier Inn in town and other hotels.

  • A successful option has been Big House Holiday Lets.  One property available can accommodate 24 athletes and it is at the recording studios where Queen recorded Bohemian Rhapsody (just two miles from the club).  Another 24 athlete option is a 5-10 minutes walk from the club.

  • We particularly look to offer camps around Easter, with weekdays being typically quiet.

How much will it cost?

  • The cost for the use of facilities at the club varies according to the number of days and athletes.  The more days and/athletes, the cheaper the cost.

How good is Monmouth RC as a training camp venue?

"We're incredibly grateful to MRC for hosting our annual Easter Training Camp. They have been incredibly welcoming and helpful, which has helped our camp run as smoothly as possible. All four of our squads made big gains on and off the water throughout the week, which were in large part facilitated by the wonderful location and the generous provision of facilities offered by MRC.The clubhouse was a perfect space to rest and revise between sessions, and the allowed use of erg room and showers proved to be indispensable. Following our overwhelmingly positive experience this week, we hope to return to Monmouth again in the future."
