The Women’s squad presently have over 30 active members between the ages of 27 & 70+ years. Some have been rowing for a number of years, whilst others have graduated from Learn to Row courses run bi-annually at the club since 2012. Over the last couple of years, the squad have competed in a variety of national and local events as well as some longer distance events, with great success.

WC8+ finishing 101st overall March 2015

National Masters Regatta – The women’s squad compete in force at this regatta with a number of Masters 4+, 8+, 4x- and novice crews competing.

Local Heads and Regattas:

At local events the squad is able to mix together in both ages and abilities, and will compete in an event approximately once a month.

Longer Distance Events

Following success at the Boston Marathon in 2010, the women’s squad enjoy the challenge of longer distance events, linked with a social weekend away! In April 2015 we raced in the 14 Km Head of the Dart (our third time) completing the course as the fastest Women’s 8+

 In September 2015 a WD8+ and WC4+ took on the Great Ouse Marathon (22km).

Training:

Training takes place both on and off the water, with erg sessions during the winter months on Tuesday & Thursday evenings and water sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There has also been the opportunity to take part in yoga classes this winter.

Social Events:

During the year the squad hold various social events  and in December the women’s squad hold their Christmas social, which involves many competitive games, a fantastic meal and the notorious Secret Santa – an event not to be missed!
