Updated 28/05/2006

General information

Recent years have seen the very successful revival of Monmouth Sprint & Regatta.  Once again, we were delighted to received praise for the event in 2005 from both competitors and umpires. We will once again be striving to improve the event in 2006 and ensure that the safety throughout the weekend is of the highest standards.  Feedback from all people is welcomed on this point.

In 2005, the event attracted crews from the South West, South East, Wales, Midlands and the Thames area in addition to Glasgow University from Scotland.  We look forward to welcoming everyone to an excellent weekend's racing in Monmouth in 2006!

"As you will all know by now, the regatta was cancelled after an extraordinary quick rise in the level of the river and more importantly an unexpectedly large amount of debris coming down the river. The regatta appreciate the huge support of all participants and will be arranging refunds to the clubs over the next few days. This is the first time that we are aware of that the regatta has had to be abandoned like this. We expect that the more normal May weather will be with us next year to welcome all our many friends back for a great weekend of serious rowing and fun."
