Monmouth Winter Head
Sunday 3rd December 2023

Conditions update (posted Saturday 2nd Dec at 2pm)
The race is ON.
The air temperature is expected to be a LOW...wrap up very warm on and off the water!  This morning we had some fog/mist, but club rowing was able to go ahead as usual with our usual 500m visibility rule.  We expect the fog to be less tomorrow.  The river has dropped to an appropriate level and speed in recent days.  There is a little rain in the forecast tomorrow, but this will not impact the rive§r, although it increases the risk of exposure.  Heating in the boat house and hot showers are ready to to go, also we boat in "first on, first off" order (racing starts once the first 10 crews are at the start) which will minimise hanging around.  Finally please do your bit by boating in plenty of appropriate clothing (wellies VERY MUCH advised as boating will be across a partially water-covered step and wet feet are to be avoided).  The water temperature is currently 4.3 dec celsius, a little higher than predicted.  Although this is cold, we have no smaller boats racing and all parts of the course will be in the eyesight of at least one launch with all seven launches in radio contact.  The finish line will now be at the boathouse as the flow is notably less than anticipated.  If you have any concerns about participating in the cold weather and wish to withdraw, a full refund will be made.

Timing: RESULTS will be LIVE on WEBSCORER (with a back-up of stopwatches and paper just in case).

Medals will be presented once the times have been confirmed (several mixed events run across divisions).  Confirmed results will be uploaded to this page when available.
