On this VE Day, Monmouth Rowing Club proudly honours the memory of those who fought for peace and freedom during the Second World War. We are especially grateful to count among our members six individuals who were born before or during the war — living links to a generation that endured and overcame immense hardship.
We also remember with deep respect former club members like Alec Woods, who served during the war and returned to contribute to the life and legacy of our club. Their courage and dedication continue to inspire us, both on and off the water.
Today, as we row in peaceful waters, we pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to make that peace possible.
