Penarth Regatta

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside.........

Twenty three Monmouth Rowing Club members enjoyed a fun day out racing in the waves at sunny Penarth, South Wales.

With eighteen races in sea going quads, doubles and sweep boats, all crews enjoyed some very close and competitive racing.

With an outgoing tide and a keen wind, conditions were challenging for the early races. As the tide turned mid morning, the sun shone and conditions improved for some very exciting racing.

There was a good mix of rowers representing all squad, and great see some of our LTR graduates competing and winning races.

There was a great team spirit, everyone helping crews and jumping in to cox when needed.

Men's Open 2x win for George K & Ben M after three heat wins, beating a strong Llandaff crew by 2 lengths in the final.

Women's Open 4+ heat win for Lottie J, Helen K, Deb F, Sophie W & cox Jayne.

Thanks to Nick H for helping with entries and photo's through out the day.

The day ended with prize giving on the balcony with a welcome drink overlooking a tranquil Penarth seafront. A great way to end the regatta season.
