Plum Puddings

Christmas was officially launched on Sunday with Monmouth Rowing Club's Plum Pudding races, all finished off with some lovely mince pies and mulled wine. With four Eights racing for the pride of the club, not the mention Monmouth's finest Christmas puddings, we had a fun morning with all three club squads mixing and matching.

After winning their semi and final the laurels went to the crew of Liz, Paul, Scott, Andy, Dawn, James, Felicity, Sam and Juliet.

In the end there were enough treats and prizes for all the crews with two special fancy dress awards being awarded to Andy for his fairy lights (don't asked where he kept the battery) and Shelia for our own very angelic rower.

After fun on the water we all settled in the club house for more lovely food, some tangy mulled wine and a Christmas quiz ( although I suspected some cheating in the men's camp after they failed to find any wise men).

A big thank you must go to Tim for organising the crews and umpiring the blade clashes and to our new Social Secretary MJ for organising the social afterwards. We were blessed with great food and drink from many of the members.

As many of the crews get ready for Christmas and a few days off training, all of us at MRC wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
