Worried that the person behind you isn't pulling hard enough? Our new telemetry will give real time streaming data

Here at Monmouth Rowing Club, we're not just about hitting the water and putting in the meters. We're about constantly striving to improve, embrace innovation, and maybe watch a little bit of Netflix on the side.

That's why we're incredibly excited to announce our latest investment: the installation of 2.5km of underwater signal cable right here on our stretch of the River Wye!

This isn't just any cable. This is the Wye-Fi, our very own state-of-the-art telemetry system designed to supercharge our training and race performance.

So, what does this mean for us?

Enhanced Performance Tracking

This new technology allows us to track boat speed and positioning with incredible precision. No more guessing on split times or struggling to analyze race data. We'll have detailed, real-time feedback on every stroke.

Streamlined Race Timings

Wye-Fi is set to revolutionize our Winter Head racing. Forget about manual stopwatches and potential errors – all timings will be automated, ensuring accurate and efficient results for every crew.

Entertainment on the Go

We know, we know – rowing can be intense. Sometimes you just need a little distraction. That's where Wye-Fi really shines. We can now catch up on our favorite shows or movies during those longer training sessions. Just imagine watching an episode of 'Bridge or Turn' or whatever it is we're all obsessed with this week. (But remember, safety first! Keep an eye out for river traffic, even if the Wye-Fi is temptingly good.)

The tea and coffee area is being officially decommissioned and replaced with an MRC Tactical Command suite.

Increased Safety

Of course, performance and entertainment are important, but safety is always paramount. This new signal cable will help us track boat locations more effectively, providing an extra layer of security on the water.

This investment is a major step forward for Monmouth Rowing Club, and we're thrilled about the possibilities it opens up. We're confident that Wye-Fi will help us unlock our full potential and reach new heights of success.

A Note from Club Captain Colin:

"This is a game-changer, folks! No longer will those early morning sessions or late-night workouts go unnoticed. Coaches will be able to see exactly where everyone is and how fast they're going. So, yeah, no more hiding behind the bushes for that extra coffee break. Sorry, guys! But hey, think of the PBs!"

We're looking forward to rolling out the full potential of Wye-Fi from 1st April and sharing our progress with all of you. Stay tuned for more updates, and get ready to see what Monmouth Rowing Club can achieve with this incredible new technology!

Very exciting news!

Loving the Tactical Command Suite. Could it perhaps be repurposed during competition to take out any opposition at risk of doing too well? It would just take a few software tweaks and the odd bit of naval hardware that I'm sure Alex would be able to source!
