Annual General Meeting 2026

The Annual General Meeting of Monmouth Rowing Club will be held on Friday 27th November 2026 at 7pm at the John Hartland Boat Club. A draft Agenda is attached, should you wish to add any motions, these should be shared with the Secretary (secretary@monmouthrc.org.uk) by Friday 20th November.
Also attached are the minutes from the 2025 AGM.
Proposed Change to the Constitution
Reflecting changes in the operation of the club, we will be voting for a potential change to the wording of the Club Constitution at the AGM. The proposed change seeks to realign with the current working format, noting that there were no volunteers to take up the position of Rowing Squad Captain for the 2025/26 season, and the ever-increasing dependence all things IT. It is therefore proposed that the requirement to have at least two Rowing Captains representing at least two squads is amended, and the Digital Officer becomes a voting Committee Member role.
Current wording
The Committee shall consist of a President, Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, at least two Rowing Captains representing at least two squads and other Officers as deemed necessary by the Committee together with up to four Ordinary members to be appointed at the AGM.
Proposed wording:
The Committee shall consist of a President, Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Digital Officer, Club Captain and at least one vice-captain representing rowing squads and other Officers as deemed necessary by the Committee together with up to four Ordinary members to be appointed at the AGM.
Positions
Any members (with the exception of social and holiday members) are entitled to vote for the Committee positions outlined below, and these are the only votes that will count. It is also worth remembering that nominations are not just for vacant roles, any member (above the age of 18) can be nominated for a role regardless of whether there is already an incumbent - this is an opportunity to influence the direction of the club so please do take it.
Nominations for Committee and supporting positions are live on the website. Nominations can be made here.
All Nominations need to be proposed and seconded. This can be done at this page.
The following volunteer roles are Committee positions to be elected at the AGM, as per the constitution:
President
Chair
Treasurer
Secretary
Club Captain [Chair of RoCo]
Digital Officer
Ordinary Member (up to 4)
To support the Committee, and to attend the Committee meetings, it is anticipated the Committee would appoint volunteers to the following roles:
Welfare Officer
Safety Advisor
Membership Secretary
Events Chair
Events Secretary
Volunteers for following roles are also sought to support the Committee:
Junior Champion
Learn to Row Coordinator
Licensee
Kit
Catering
Equipment Manager
Community Liaison
Event and Entries Admin
Intensity Vice Captain
Rowing Vice Captain
Non-squad Rowers Vice Captain
Whilst not voting roles, these are key in operating the club. As non-voting roles you would not be required to attend Committee Meetings and therefore these provide a great opportunity to be involved with less of the time constraints of a voting position.
Should these positions not be filled at the AGM, the Committee will seek to persuade volunteers as needed through the year. The Vice Captains and Club Captain will form the Rowing Sub Committee [RoCo], reporting to the Committee, they will have the autonomy to invite attendees as they see necessary to conduct/support their work.
If you have any queries about a specific role, please do reach out to a member of Committee for further details.
Charity of the Year
In addition, there is an area on the website to propose the 2026/27 Charity of the Year. This year the nomination form includes a section to outline events that you, as the champion, would seek to run through the year to raise funds for the charity, above and beyond the event entries.
Kind Regards,
Kathryn
