Last weekend, the banks of the River Wye came alive with the sound of blades slicing through water and the buzz of friendly competition, as Monmouth Rowing Club hosted its annual two-day regatta. And what a success it was.
A Celebration of Rowing for All
From J13 quads to elite singles, masters eights to adaptive scullers, the regatta showcased the full breadth of the rowing community. Clubs from across the country (and from abroad) made their way to Monmouth to compete in what has become one of the friendliest and best-run events on the calendar with a wide array of races across junior, senior, masters, mixed, and adaptive categories. With over 90 individual events held across Saturday and Sunday, rowers battled it out on the River Wye in picturesque Monmouth.
Monmouth's Performance
Whilst we don't normally compete at our own regatta , we still managed to field some crews claiming victory in five events:
🥇 Saturday Morning:
Op MasG/H 2- – MON - H Andy and Harry.
🥇 Saturday Afternoon:
W 1x PM Band 2 – MON - Lottie took home the Haberdasher's Novice Trophy.
🥇 Sunday Morning:
Op MasC/E 4x- – MON
Op MasE 4- – MON - E: .
🥇 Sunday Afternoon:
Op 8+ – MON -strong team performance in the open eights category.
Fun in the Sun
It wasn't all hard work. In a bald move of solidarity, the Cardiff University crew shaved seconds and their hairlines — all in honour of their coach (the guy in the polkadot). Monmouth’s legendary commentator Scotty felt right at home among his follicly-freed fans!
International Competition
We were please to welcome Tribesman Rowing Club from Galway who came in force and enjoyed the fun and returned with their fair share of medals. This was a return leg after Monmouth enjoyed their hospitality at this year's Tribesman Head.

A Word from Our Sponsors
Events like this aren't possible without a lot of support and we would like to thank all our kind sponsors for this year.

Thanks to All Who Made It Happen
The Monmouth community came together in style and we offer a heartfelt thank you to:
All the clubs who travelled from near and far to race with great spirit and sportsmanship.
Our dedicated umpires and officials, whose professionalism and calm oversight kept things running smoothly.
The tireless Monmouth Rowing Club members, who worked behind the scenes to build infrastructure, manage entries, cook bacon rolls, launch safety boats, and much more.
A special shout-out goes to:
