Looking for the perfect weekend plan that involves zero stress, beautiful views, and absolutely free entry? We’ve got you covered.

On Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th May, Monmouth Rowing Club is throwing open its gates for our annual two-day Regatta. Whether you know your "strokes" from your "bows" or just want an excuse to sit by the gorgeous River Wye with a cold drink, this is the place to be.

Here is everything you need to know to enjoy a fabulous weekend by the water.

What’s the Vibe?

Think classic British summertime. We are transforming the riverbank into the ultimate spectator zone. It’s entirely free to watch, action starts at 09:00 AM each day, and the atmosphere is guaranteed to be buzzing.

Here is what we’re serving up alongside the racing:

Keep your energy up with our legendary homemade cake stall.

🍺Local Beer & Refreshments:

Grab a cold pint of local brew and watch the boats glide (or sprint) by.

🧺 Picnic Perfection:

Bring a picnic rug, find a spot on the grass, and soak up the sunshine. (And yes, we are being optimistic—bring the sun lotion!)

Two Days of Non-Stop Action

We have hundreds of rowers traveling from all over the country to compete on our beautiful stretch of the Wye. But it's a tale of two different styles of racing across the weekend:

Saturday: The Big Engine (Over 250 Crews)

Saturday is all about endurance and precision. With over 250 crews taking to the water, you'll see everything from solo scullers to massive eights powering down the river. It’s a spectacular sight to see the river completely alive with boats.

Sunday: The Super Sprints (Over 150 Crews)

If you like your sports fast and dramatic, Sunday is for you. The course is shortened for **sprint racing**, which means explosive starts, high speeds, and incredibly close finishes. It’s loud, it’s exciting, and it’s perfect for cheering on the crews!

By car access to our free car park is via the Dixton Roundabout

Or just walk, we are only 10 mins from the centre of Monmouth.
