The club has always tried to support young talent develop along their rowing journey. A number of years ago a fund was created to support any aspiring rower who needed help with the financial commitments of progressing through a performance rowing pathway. The pathway may be different for each athlete but will likely incur costs in attending camps, attending National and International regattas and purchasing items of kit.
The fund is fed by claiming a small percentage of seat rowing fees from our Regattas and Heads. It is a small way that the club recognises the time given by volunteers at these events and support the future generation of rowers.
The Committee recently reviewed, updated and reissued the grant award policy around this fund. As we move into the 2024 season the Club is keen for aspiring rowers to apply for small grants from the fund. The fund is open to any young rower who regularly rows on the Wye at Monmouth and has a coach who will support their application.
